PROFESSIONAL TEA EDUCATION
1. Registered Tea Consultant
- Overview of 5,000 years of history and the import of tea to Europe
- Terminology, etiquette and protocol
- Experience giving a short tea talk
- Discussion of the importance of porcelain with the transportation of tea leaves
- Self awareness and salesmanship using social system theories
- Business entities and essentials
- Write a useful business plan for your goals.
Distance learning by CD and internet/notebook or on-site tutorial in individual or small classroom setting. On site option add $150. for additional meals and hands on content information.
2. Tearoom Management Certification and Internship Program
Selected serious students receive an intensive one week immersion in day to day running a tearoom, consultations with business professional advisors and working with employees. $1600. includes lunch and dinner meals, murder mystery walk-through dinner and script.
- Qualified students are accepted but preference is given to Registered Tea Consultants.
- Remedial program can be attached to Internship by individual review of student’s qualifications and background.
3. Tea Conference for Professionals Jan. 17-18, 2009
Tea Conference is open to Registered and Certified Tea Consultants for professional continuing education. Additional attendees may participate by invitation or challenge demonstration of basic required information. Irene's Teas will make final decision.
- Challenges of advanced tea harvesting and current processing methods
- Life and work on the Tea Estate
- Seminar with basic blending principles (hands on practices)
Mim Enck, Master Tea Blender of East Indies Teas is our primary presenter for our small group for interactive discussions.
Early Registration before Oct. 1, 2008, $395.
After Oct. 2, Registration $425.
Registration held with $100 non-refundable fee.
Full registration remainder is due December 3rd (45 days before start of seminar on Jan. 17, 18, 2009.)
HEARTLAND ART SCHOOL
- Entering our seventh year, we are featuring outstanding national teachers in a retreat-like setting for studying porcelain art. Classes are suitable for all levels of learning.
Glass Painting July 19-20, 2008
Taught by Stella Shilling from Houston, TX
Paint a glass cutting board in your own colors and design using a reverse paint technique. Two-day seminar $395. Deposit required with registration. Lunch included. Final tuition due by June 4, 2008.
Digital Photography July 19-20, 2008
With historical perspective and field experience. Two day seminar $375 includes lunch
Taught by Harold (Bud) Rothgeb and Jim Parker
Students must supply own digital camera. A small fee will be charged for supplies used. Deposit required with registration. Final tuition due by June 4, 2008.
Porcelain Lace Draping Sept. 17-18, 2008 2-Day Seminar
Private or small class instruction available for Old World “porcelain lace draping” Class can be structured for time and variety to meet student’s needs. Normally a class is three full days to study basic lace draping, embellishing a vase, hand crafting ribbons and flowers from porcelain clay and draping porcelain soaked cotton to design fashions for a figurine.
Classes or private instructions are taught by Irene Nielsen on site in Lindsborg. Fee includes basic creative materials, lunch at the Stockholm during school and instructions. Cost is $395 for two days including lunch both days.

Porcelain Hand Crafted Flowers for Embellishment on Vases Oct. 18-19, 2008.
Study the art of making porcelain flowers and embellishments for three demensional effects decorating vases. We utilize the "Old World" techniques of lace draping to create modern works of art. Two days of study with porcelain clay for $395. including lunch and basic porcelain materials. Registration with non-refundable $100. deposit with full remainder tuition due September 3 (45 days) before the start of seminar. Taught by Irene Nielsen of LIndsborg, KS
Register on-line with $100 non-refundable deposit toward final tuition. Final tuition is due 45 days before start of class. Local hospitality motels, Bed & Breakfast and restaurants are available. We recommend early reservations.
Drawing with Pastels Sept 27-28, 2008
Taught by Barbara Ramsey Snow from Clever, MO
Floral drawing study in non-oil pastels, reminiscent of the O'Keefe style presented as a two-day seminar. $395 Tuition due by Aug. 13, 2008. Deposit required with registration. Lunch included.
Culinary Arts Camp for Kids - Age 8-18
Two camps offer a choice of daily sessions 2-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday or a full two day camp with one overnight. The final graduation meal is prepared by the camper for a family/friend celebration. The overnight camper will be housed with a Lindsborg "host" family or if accompanied by a parent or adult relative/guardian, will be give a $35 credit toward housing. Click here for more information.
